Using backdrops for my photography

I leased some more office space for SSGI. We have a couple new people and things were getting tight.  After everyone is moved to their new office we have one extra office space.  I decided to turn it into a basic photography studio. Now that it’s Christmas time, Christmas pictures are a must.

I ordered a Christmas backdrop from Amazon a couple of weeks ago and didn’t expect to receive it before Christmas since it was being shipped from China.  But, it actually arrived within a few days. So today, once I got the snow cleared, the whole family went to the my new “studio” to shoot Christmas pictures.

All in all everything went pretty well.  I learned that getting 6 kids in one shot is a challenge. But I did get a couple. I also learned that I have a lot to learn about lighting.  I have a light kit, but I really need to work with it.  The images came out OK but I was not happy with the consistency of the lighting.  I especially had problems with shooting anyone in a light colored shirt.  I more or less know what I need to do and just need to practice.

I did get some pretty good shots and I really liked using the backdrop. Shooting people is tough for me.  The backdrop makes it interesting. I ordered another backdrop today. I’m looking forward to using it with my favorite model, my grand daughter, Makayla.  Look for a few pictures on my Flickr site shortly.
