The New Topaz Impression Filter Is Amazing

It’s been a wile since I posted here, I know.  I have been very busy with SSGI and it is football season for my grandsons, so I have pretty limited time these days.  But, I wanted to talk about this new filter I purchased from Topaz Labs, Impression.  It’s amazing!

DSC_5482impI have several Topaz filters and really like them.  Impression came out about a month ago and I immediately fell in love with it.  It takes your photos and makes them into amazing paintings or drawings.  You can adjust how the filter is applied and pick from dozens of variations.

The interface is different than the other Topaz filters.  It’s also the first filter that I had some hardware issues with.  My video card didn’t handle the proper version of Open GL, a video utility, so I had to install a new video card to even get the program to install.  It is also pretty CPU intensive.  I have a pretty decent workstation and the app is a bit sluggish, but very usable.  I would be very careful with this filter if you have a low end workstation.

It’s also more expensive that the other Topaz filters at $99.99.  I got it quite a bit cheaper since I jumped on the bandwagon early.  It’s well worth the $99.99 if your into using filters with your photos.  You can download a free trial to check it out.

I have had limited time to play with the filter, but I have found that it can do amazing things with the right photos.  Not all photos work well with filters.  And of course you need to have good photos to begin with.  Luckily, I do get a few good ones.

Here are a couple that I played around with.  What do you think?
